New exhibitions opening at ArtCenter Manatee’s Galleries located at 209 Ninth St. W in Bradenton. Featuring Fiber Art from Los Angeles and New York in conjunction with Convergence 2008. Convergence features special lectures, workshops and seminars, exhibits, tours, special events, and a commercial vendors hall full of fibers, fiber-related equipment and an artist market. www.weavespindye.org "Sideshow" a 22-person Fiber Arts exhibit by the juried fiber guild, Designing Weavers, reflects the divergent responses of the guild members to the theme “circus.” Every year the Designing Weavers’ guild selects a theme and each member creates a project inspired by it. "Tri-Axial Trix" by Sally Shore. A Fine Arts major at Kent State University in the late 1960s, Sally Shore took a weaving class which led to commissioned rugs and hangings. Her attention turned to weaving with ribbon in 1990 and expanded to beading in 2002. The public is invited to attend a wine and cheese reception on Friday, June 27th 4-9 pm where they will have the opportunity to meet the artists, discuss techniques and purchase artwork. These exhibits will be available for viewing free of charge during ArtCenter Manatee gallery hours:
